Miss Electric Gets the Low-Down from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
What is the deal with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce refusal to support the latest cap-and-trade bill in Congress? Why is MoveOn.org putting the slap-down on companies like Toyota for continuing to remain with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce? On today’s EVCast, Miss Electric and the EVCast crew get the facts straight from the horse’s mouth. We bring on the Chamber’s Communications Director, Matt Laturno, for a little “q and a” to help us understand what’s really going on.
As I’ve written on TheCleanDeal, a climate treaty should work directly to implement clean technology in the market place. A “cap-and-trade” bill does not necessarily lead to mass market clean tech outcomes. This is exactly what the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is arguing as well. They have outlined a series of policy proposals that they believe will equate a greater reduction in greenhouse gas emissions that that stipulated in the Waxman-Markey bill.
