L_A__Auto_Show-logo-A33213AB6A-seeklogo.comOn this week’s EVCast, we get all the juicy details about this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show from Sebastion Blanco, editor of AutoBlogGreen. He recently returned from two days of press events on the showroom floor.

Compared to last year’s emphasis on the latest and greatest “green machines,” I was a little disappointed to hear that this year’s L.A. Auto Show did not have nearly the same emphasis. In 2008, there was a remarkable turnout of concept and production model electric vehicles. In 2009, while there were a significant number of hybrid vehicles on display, there were fewer plug-in vehicle models.

Is this indicative of a new trend? Maybe. However, I believe that those companies that have already committed to production plug-in vehicle models (Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Ford, and GM) may be focused on fulfilling those commitments instead of hyping them.

Auto shows are, of course, great opportunities to show the consumers what is coming to market. I believe that in 2010, as plug-in vehicles actually become available, we will see major displays for plug-in vehicles as companies begin marketing campaigns in earnest.
