Electric drive is sexy, fast, and fun – so which electric ride is right for you? There is an electric form of transportation for every person in every budget.
1. E-Bikes
What is more fun than biking on a beautiful day? E-biking! Electric bikes are a whole heck of a lot of fun and can replace your gas car for most of your local errands.Warning: Be prepared for a major EV grin.
Read our test drive in the IZip E-Bikes and see for your yourself!
2. Convert Your Gas Guzzler into Electric
If you have an old car you’d like to rip the engine out of and convert into clean, electric wheels, you have more options available today for ready-made EV kits. This is a project for those EV drivers that like to get
their hands dirty and channel their inner EV engineer.
Check out CalCars resource page on EV conversion options.
3. Convert Your Prius to a Plug-In
If you have a second or third generation Prius that is starting to rack up the miles, your best bet may be to invest in a plug-in conversion. If you live in Colorado, you can qualify to convert your Prius at an incredibly good deal right now. If you live in other locations, you can always contact your local Prius conversion dealer.
Check out GreenGears Plug-In Pruis Options.
4. Purchase A New Electric Ride
For the first time in automotive history, you can now purchase your very own plug-in electric vehicle from major automakers. GM and Nissan are leading the way this year with the Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf. Miss Electric owns a White Diamond Volt and has never been happier. Ford will soon be adding to the variety of plug-in options as well – including the Ford Focus Electric.
For an up-to-date list of all plug-in electric vehicles available on the market, scope out the Plug-In America Vehicle Tracker.
There are also now over 20 hybrid electric vehicles to choose from as well. Check out some of our hybrid test drive articles and reviews.
